ENVIRONmenTALLY & ETHICALLY CONSCIOUS KNITWEAR
sustainability
Alex Gore Browne knitwear is made from the finest cashmere, non mulesed, merino wool and Supima cotton - these materials are ethically sourced and traceable back to the farm of origin through chain of custody, with suppliers all being certified by the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). The RWS is a voluntary standard that incentivises farming best practices and aims to improve the welfare of sheep and the land they graze on. RWS farmers are evaluated against animal welfare, land management, and social requirements set against progressive criteria, all of which are audited by a professional, third-party certification body.
Our pieces are knitted in a carefully picked, family run Italian factory, where living wages are paid, regular audits are carried out and working practices are monitored and held to a quality standard. Our pieces are then hand finished and delicately embroidered by the AGB team here in our solar-powered studio in Oxfordshire, before being packed into recycled card packaging and sent off to our lovely customers.
In a commitment to slow and circular fashion and in a stand against a throwaway culture, our focus lies in the longevity of your clothes, ensuring your knits stand the test of time. We offer both a repair and bespoke customisation service whereby old knits are given a new lease of life - these services apply to any beloved piece of clothing you own, as well as your AGB knit. In line with our ethos, we encourage our customers to shop small, and slow, investing in quality and extending the life of each piece they own for as long as possible.
